How does online advertising work?

There are several different ways that you can advertise online. The two publishers that currently have the lion’s share of “eyeballs” are Google and Facebook. Google being the leader due to its Display, YouTube, Shopping, Gmail and of course Search Networks.

Both of these platforms run paid ads for advertisers based on a daily budget setup. You can drive people to a landing page with Google ads and Facebook ads. With Facebook ads, you also have the option of using a native Facebook lead form to obtain users contact details.

Online advertising campaigns are usually billed on a cost per click, cost per 1,000 impressions, or cost per view basis. Once your Daily budget runs out your ads stop running for the day.

You can also schedule and geographically target your ads online as well as track every Sale, Download or Enquiry. 

Does SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) really work?

The short answer is yes. Depending on your budget and the difficulty of the keywords you’re targeting the amount of time it will take varies. The organic section of Google is still the most clicked on section by far. In order to obtain decent rankings on Google for competitive searches, there are 3 main components that need to be worked on.

  • Onsite SEO. This includes Alt tags, Meta Tags, H1-H5 tags AND CONTENT. Site speed and specific coding techniques will also have a great impact on your rankings, traffic, leads and sales from Google.
  • Offsite SEO. Backlinks can be acquired by having content on your website that other websites link to and use as reference points in the content they are publishing. The other way is to purchase them. It is very rare for a website to have a high ranking on Google for a competitive keyword without having purchased backlinks.
  • Content. Although this was mentioned in the previous point, it’s worth mentioning again. Regularly and strategically publishing more content on your website will pull more visitors into your website and build your domain up as an authority on your targeted niche in the eyes of Google.
